It is with heartfelt sadness that The B Team mourns the passing of Bob Collymore.

As the CEO of Safaricom PLC, as a B Team Leader and, most importantly, as a person, Bob was dedicated to transforming lives from those of his own team to the wider world. His passion, tenacity and humility in this work helped to build healthier, more equal and more sustainable communities in Kenya and around the globe.

In these efforts, he also inspired many to recognise their own ability to drive change in their communities and beyond. “We rarely appreciate just how resourceful people can be once they discover their purpose,” he once said, “We often have a one dimensional view of ourselves and our role in society, forgetting that we can use our talents to drive monumental change at home, at work or at play.”

Bob’s vision and determination has played a critical role in advancing our mission since he joined The B Team as a Leader in 2015. He was a true champion for equality and believed in the important role that business has to play in delivering a fairer world. We will continue to honour Bob and his legacy through our work. We all strive to follow his model of inspirational and compassionate leadership.

The B Team shares our deepest condolences and sympathies to Bob’s wife Wambui and his four children. With sincere gratitude and in immense respect, we pay tribute to Bob Collymore and his commitment to making the world a better place for generations to come.
